Our Story
At our core, we believe in the importance of human connection
Life moves fast, especially with the constant acceleration of new technologies. In this relentless pace, it’s rare to find moments to pause, step back, and be supported to deeply examine the challenges, opportunities, and experiences we’re navigating.
That’s why we fell in love with Action Learning—it creates a space where individuals can safely explore challenges, celebrate wins, and grow in meaningful ways through shared learning.
Our story began as all great stories should: over a conversation at a champagne bar in St. Pancras Station.
Fiona and Janie, united by a shared belief in the transformative power of Action Learning, came together with a vision to create something different. What started as an idea to improve facilitator training soon evolved into a thriving partnership—and a strong commitment to helping people and organisations flourish.
Over the years, we’ve worked with clients across industries, continually adapting and refining our programmes to meet their unique needs.
For us, it’s about going beyond the expected and building genuine, lasting relationships. We collaborate, adjust, and review to make sure the our work continues to deliver value long after we’ve stepped away.
People often tell us that the experience is both professionally stretching and personally meaningful; that they feel supported, taken seriously, and able to make progress on challenges that previously felt stuck. They leave with stronger skills, more confidence and a clearer sense of themselves.
We don’t just teach Action Learning—we live it. As active participants in our own Action Learning sets, we understand the power of wrestling with tough questions, gaining fresh insights, and moving forward with clarity.
This lived experience keeps us connected to the process, and we’re as passionate about it now as we were when we started co-founded Action Learning Centre in 2013.
Benefits of our approach
Curiosity, reflection, clarifying, learning, and collaborating are our starting point for working with our clients. They are touchstones that run through all that we do; enabling us to create powerful programmes that help you take action, achieve your objectives and move your organisation forward.
Our approach is innovative and dynamic because no two projects are the same.

” I really valued being able to develop my own listening and questioning skills. Being part of an Action Learning Set has not only aided me in finding solutions to tackle the specific project problems but also has aided my everyday working practice as I look to adopt a more reflective approach.”
