Meet Our Team
Emily Ahmed
Action Learning creates a space for people to listen, be heard, explore their challenges, and reach their own solutions. For me, the joy and satisfaction is in facilitating a group to take that journey, enabling a reflective practice which can be truly transformational.
I began my Action Learning journey in 2011 while on a Common Purpose leadership course, where I experienced the power of Action Learning Sets (ALS) for the first time. I was immediately drawn to its reflective, peer-supported approach. My passion deepened through my participation in ALS during the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) Start Up and Trade Up programmes between 2013 and 2016. Eager to share the benefits of this transformative process with others, I completed my Action Learning facilitation training with Fiona at SSE in 2018 and have since facilitated ALS annually across SSE’s Start Up, Trade Up, and Fellowship programmes.
What I love about Action Learning
I love that Action Learning is both simple and profound. It offers a space for deep listening, thoughtful questioning, and collective insight, enabling participants to explore their challenges and discover their own solutions. As a facilitator, witnessing the bonds that form within a group and the personal and professional growth that emerges through this process is both a privilege and a joy.
Why Action Learning matters
In a fast-paced world, Action Learning offers a rare space for reflection and connection. It empowers people to learn with and from each other, developing their listening, questioning, and problem-solving skills—abilities that are essential for effective leadership and collaboration. Action Learning fosters confidence, resilience, and community, making it a vital tool for personal and professional growth.
