For me, curiosity is a super-power and Action Learning is how you put that superpower into action! It’s a structured process that assists us all in getting curious. Rather than going straight to “fixing” problems, I think Action Learning invites us to sit with the problem a little longer and get clearer on what’s going on, which often brings us to new and better solutions.

It reminds me of the Einstein quote: “If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on the solution, I would spend the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask, for once I know the proper question, I could solve the problem in less than five minutes.”

What brought you to AL & when
I was introduced to AL through some work with the inaugural School for Social Entrepreneurs in Dublin about ten years ago. The interest sustained so I sought facilitator training in 2017 and have been using AL as part of my coaching and leadership development practice ever since.

What is it that you love about AL
AL creates space, the pause we often need to think differently about our challenges, to reflect on our learning and to start to identify some new actions that might serve our purpose better.

Why does AL matter
In a world where the pace is continuously accelerating and ‘crazy busy’ has been normalised, it’s vital to create spaces for more thoughtful reflection and AL does just that, with the support of peers and the benefit of perspective.
